Karlie Kloss was discovered at the age of thirteen at a charity show held in Saint Louis. It was one of her teachers at Webster Gorves High School who encouraged Karlie to try her luck as a fashion model. In 2007 Kloss signed a contract with Elite Model Management although in January 2008 she would left Elite to join NEXT Model Management. She became famous after Tyra Banks imitated her movements on the catwalk although it was her personal way of walking what came to the attention of fashion designers and earned her a place in the New York Fashion Week where she opened Carolina Herrera fashion show, closed Marc Jacobs’ and opened and closed Doo.Ri’s. After walking in New York, she traveled to Milan (where she walked twenty shows) and Paris (thirteen shows) to present 2008 Fall Winter collections totalling sixty four fashion shows in just one season. Being only fifteen years old she already was a promising model. Her quick success caused Karlie to be in the center of a lawsuit in which Elite (her former agency) sued NEXT for allegedly grabbing its new rising star claiming that they had been responsible for her launch and had got Karlie a lot of first-class assignments. Finally the issue didn’t have serious consequences and both agencies reached an extra-judicial agreement.
